Smart Scrap

The AI classification model lives in a separate repository that isn't public; the linked repository holds the mobile app.
Problem & context
Smart Scrap bridges the gap between the local community and scrap sellers. Before it, there was no simple way to find each other, book a pickup and agree on what material was being collected.
My contribution
- Built the user and collector flows.
- Booking, reviews and notifications.
- Integrated an AI image classifier for scrap materials.
- Admin screens to manage orders and reviews.
Key technical work
Two-sided app
Separate flows for users who list scrap and collectors who pick it up, connected by booking and reviews.
Photo-based classification
An AI model classifies scrap materials from uploaded photos to help describe each pickup.
Architecture
- React Native 0.78 with React Navigation and NativeWind.
- Redux Toolkit for app state; Axios for API calls.
- Firebase for login, Firestore, file storage and the realtime database.
Outcome & limitations
Final-year project for my BS Computer Science, graded A.
